Course Overview
This PX service comprises two online group sessions and individual, follow-up support concerning applying for a place at university or college (Higher Education or HE).
Course Method
Part 1: A 90-minute online session for parents and students covering the following:
- Issues to be considered when deciding on applications for HE and the sort of research that needs to be done
- Tariff points and grade expectations
- The UCAS process and calendar (from application to clearing)
- Requirements for some courses (e.g. entrance tests, interviews, & work experience)
- A brief consideration of finance for HE.
This is followed by an opportunity for questions.
Part 2: A 60-minute online session for students, on how to write a successful Personal Statement.
Part 3: Practical follow-up which provides the opportunity for:
- Students to receive feedback on a draft Personal Statement via a Google Classroom (with the proviso that students should also have it checked by a relevant subject teacher)
- Students and parents to pose further questions via this Google Classroom.
Course Details
These sessions are due to run at the following times:
Part 1: Tuesday, 23rd June at 6.30pm (London time zone)
Part 2: Tuesday, 7th July at 6.30pm (London time zone)
Part 3: Flexible, private use of a PX Google Classroom over the summer months.
