KS3 World History in the Twentieth Century – Term 2 (Jan. 2026)

Course Overview

This one-year course covers the following topics:

1. The Communist Revolutions in Russia and China, their causes and consequences
2. America, 1920-1974: social, economic, and political developments
3. International relations in the late twentieth century focusing particularly on the Cold War and Vietnam and Arab-Israeli relations

This course is designed to prepare students for GCSE or IGCSE History.

Course Method

Classes involve discussions on issues related to the content covered the previous week and an introduction to the topic to be covered in homework during the following week, directed particularly at developing key conceptual understandings.

The aim is to create a relaxed but purposeful atmosphere is which students feel free to ask questions and to share ideas with each other.

Short homework tasks are set with optional extra tasks for those who wish to dig deeper. Students are directed to use online resources to complete homework tasks (the purchase of a textbook is not required). These tasks should take about 30 to 60 minutes.

If notice is given in advance of a lesson that a student will not be able to attend, a video recording may be made, to be temporarily available after the lesson.

Course Details

Term 2 covers America, 1920-1974: social, economic, and political developments. It comprises 11 weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 50 minutes.

This PX Classroom is held on Fridays at 8.00am (London time zone), starting on Friday, 9th January, 2026. There will be no lesson during the half-term week which commences 16th February. The last lesson is due to be on 27th March 2026.
