KS3 Christians in History (Jan. 2027)

Course Overview

This one-term course looks at the role of Christians in history, from the Early Church up until World War II. The main focus is Britain but not solely. The course covers a minimum of ten individuals – men and women over the last 2,000 years who have made a difference. Students consider how these great Christians demonstrated their Christian faith in their lives and made an impact in their generation. Students also learn how to evaluate their legacy for us today.

This is an ideal course for children interested in studying history in the future but not wanting to commit to a long course at this stage. It is also ideal for anyone interested in just learning more about history, expanding their knowledge, and enjoying a Christian focus.

Please note that this course is not open to students on my 2026-27 Tuesday KS3 History course!

Course Method

Students study the lives of the selected Christians by looking at primary sources and later interpretations. They also briefly study the historical context of the times in which they lived.

This course helps develop historical skills of analysis, comprehension, inference, and interpretation. There are opportunities for written work too.

The skills gained will also be useful for those looking to study History at GCSE level.

Homework will be set each week to enhance and embed the learning from the lesson.

A video recording of the lesson can be made when a student is absent.

Course Details

The term comprises 10 weekly lessons. This PX classroom is held on Mondays at 11am (London time zone) starting from Monday 11th January 2027. There will be no lesson during the half-term week which commences 15th February. The last lesson is due to be on 22nd March 2027.
