Course Overview
This course covers content for KS3 specifications. Together with Part 1, it forms a two-year course.
The course assumes that Key Stage 2 level Maths has already been reached. Part 2 assumes that Part 1 has already been completed. But exceptions can be made for more able pupils who have been working on the material covered in Part 1 independently. Please consult with the Teacher if you think this might be the case for you.
This course is ideal preparation for the PX IGCSE Mathematics Classroom.
Course Method
The course works its way through the CGP Key Stage 3 Maths textbook (but it is not a requirement to procure this for the course).
Homework is set from the CGP Key Stage Three Maths Workbook – Higher Level which must be procured in advance (ISBN 9781841460383). Homework normally takes two to three hours per week, depending on ability. Homework is self-marked and often includes optional extension work. Tests are conducted twice a term and are to be completed in exam conditions and returned to the Teacher for marking.
A video recording of a lesson can be made temporarily available to a student who has unavoidably missed a lesson.
Course Details
Term 1 comprises 15 weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 50 minutes.
This PX Classroom is held on Fridays at 10am (London time zone), starting from Friday, 21st August 2026. There will be no lessons on 11th September or 9th or 16th October due to the half-term break. The last lesson is due to be on 18th December 2026.
