Key Stage 3 Intermediate Latin – Term 3

Course Overview

This course is for students who have successfully completed the PX Classrooms KS3 Beginners Latin course or who have reached an equivalent level outside of PX Classrooms. It lays the groundwork for a GCSE in Latin.

The course broadly follows the Cambridge Latin Course and covers the grammar required for the Entry Level 3 qualification (OCR). Arrangements can be discussed to sit this qualification, but the coursework required by OCR means a suitable examination centre would need to be secured by the parents for the student.

Course Method

Students must procure the following textbook in advance: Cambridge Latin Course Book 2. The 4th edition should be obtained (ISBN 9780521644686).

This course follows a similar method to the PX Classrooms KS3 Beginners Latin course, with the focus being on translation. There will also be a stronger focus on grammar and syntax.

This class is held on Zoom and makes use of Google Classroom as a learning platform. This is an intimate class with a maximum of eight students in order to allow each student to engage verbally in translation and grammar exercises.

Vocabulary homework and a short written homework will be set each week (taking a maximum 45 minutes).

Course Details

Term 3 comprises 14 weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes.

This PX Classroom is held on Mondays at 11am (London time zone) starting from Monday 9th September 2024. There will be no lesson on 28th October due to the half-term break. The last lesson is due to be on 16th December 2024.
