Please check that you are purchasing the right Group for this course and stick to the same Group for the whole course: Group 1 meets on Thursdays and Group 2 on Fridays!

Course Overview

This course is designed to cover the key skills in English at Key Stage 3 and is aimed at 11 to 14 year olds. The course involves a variety of language- and literature-based work, so as to provide a solid foundation for the GCSE years.

Course Method

Each term, the teaching focuses on a particular text, author, or a collection of texts related to a particular theme. There is always a variety of reading and writing tasks within each term’s work.

Lessons are a mixture of lecture-style sessions with accompanying slides and interactive classroom discussions.

Texts, class notes, and worksheets are distributed via Google Classroom. One set novel will need to be acquired. Access to a printer is essential.

Homework will be set each week – a mixture of self-marked and teacher-marked assignments.

A video recording can be made of each lesson and upon request can be made temporarily available to a student who missed the lesson.

Course Details

Term 2 comprises 10 weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes.

The topic for Term 2 will be Old and Middle English – Where did our English language come from?

This PX Classroom is held on Fridays at 9.15am (London time zone), starting from Friday, 8th January 2027. There will be no lesson on 19th February due to the half-term break. The last lesson is due to be on 19th March 2027.
