Course Overview
This course is an introduction to Latin. It lays the groundwork for the PX Classrooms KS3 Intermediate Latin course. The course broadly follows the Cambridge Latin Course Book 1.
No prior knowledge of the subject is required. A minimum age of 11 is advised.
Course Method
Students must procure the following textbook in advance: Cambridge Latin Course Book 1. The 4th edition should be obtained (ISBN 9780521635431). A free online version can be found at www.dl.cambridgescp.com/books/book-i.
This class is held on Zoom and makes use of Google Classroom as a learning platform. This is an intimate class with a maximum of eight students in order to allow each student to engage verbally in translation and grammar exercises. We will discuss grammar points and Roman culture. There will also be some written grammar and translation exercises.
Vocabulary homework and a short written homework will be set each week (30 minutes total).
Course Details
Term 2 comprises 10 weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes.
This PX Classroom is held on Tuesdays at 1.30pm (London time zone) starting from Tuesday 7th January 2025. There will be no lesson during the half-term week which commences 17th February. The last lesson is due to be on 18th March 2025.
