Key Stage 2 Latin (Jan. 2027)

Important Note

This PX Classroom will only take place if a sufficient number of students reserve a place. To reserve a place, submit your order for this course as if you were going to buy it, but select ‘Direct Bank Transfer’ (not card payment) and only transfer the money much later once the Teacher has confirmed to you that the course will indeed take place (Do not create a new order in order to pay as that will purchase a second place on the course!). If the course does not run, there will be nothing to pay and your order will simply be cancelled.

Course Overview

This KS2 Latin Course is suitable for complete beginners.

The course will broadly follow Prima Latina by Memoria Press.

No prior knowledge of the subject is required. A minimum age of 7 is advised. Pupils will need to be already fluent in reading English.

Course Method

This PX Classroom is held on Zoom and also makes use of Google Classroom as a learning platform. It is an intimate class with a maximum of 8 students, in order to allow each child to engage in verbal translation and grammar exercises. Points of grammar as well as Roman culture are discussed. There are also some written grammar and translation exercises.

The following textbook must be acquired in advance:

Prima Latina Student Book: Introduction to Christian Latin (Memoria Press UK; ISBN 9781930953512).

Vocabulary homework is set each week in addition to completing worksheets in the student workbook. This should take about 60 minutes in total.

Course Details

Term 2 comprises 9 weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 40 minutes.

This PX Classroom is held on Mondays at 9.30am (London time zone) starting from Monday, 11th January 2027. There will be no lesson on 22nd February due to the half-term break. The last lesson is due to be on 15th March 2027.
