Course Overview
This is a fun and engaging course designed especially for children who have completed the Introduction to BSL Year 1 course. Young learners will revise the BSL learnt over the previous year, and learn how to communicate using non manual features, facial expressions, and body language, building on knowledge from the previous year.
The course encourages children to build confidence signing in more complex settings and gain a deeper understanding of BSL structure and grammar.
This course is also ideal for more advanced students who may be interested in working towards more formal qualifications in BSL.
Course Method
Each week, the teacher will introduce new signs through live classes and then upload video demonstrations to a dedicated, private, YouTube channel. This channel serves as a valuable resource, allowing children to review and practise the signs at their own pace.
Every week, children will receive a small homework assignment to practise their new skills, with tasks like signing their favourite colours, introducing family members, or creating a mini conversation using BSL. These activities help reinforce learning and give students a chance to share what they have learned with their classmates.
