IGCSE English Literature – Term 5

This course should not be purchased until the Teacher has assessed that KS3 literature skills have been developed. Please contact the Teacher for more details.

Course Overview

This course prepares students to sit the Edexcel IGCSE in English Literature 4ET1. It is a two-year course suitable for any student hoping to sit the exam in May 2027.

Due to the mature nature of the set texts, and because many English skills improve naturally with age during the teenage years, it is strongly recommended that the student does not sit the English exam until they are at least 15 years old.

Course Method

This course will cover both components of Edexcel IGCSE English Literature:

• Unit 1 Poetry and Modern Prose
• Unit 2 Modern Drama and Literary Heritage Texts

Class notes, homework, and past paper resources are distributed and marked on Google Classroom. Students will therefore need their own Google Classroom account. Copies of the prescribed texts will also need to be acquired in advance.

Lessons are engaging and are accompanied and enhanced by supporting slides, videos, and class discussions.

Weekly homework consists of essays and long paragraphs and should be submitted on Google Classroom.

A summary video recording (with only the teacher visible) can be requested in advance by students who have to miss a lesson.

Course Details

Term 5 comprises 13 weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 1 hour.

This PX Classroom is held on Thursdays at 11.30am (London time zone), starting from Thursday, 14th January 2027. There will be no lesson on 11th February due to the half-term break. The last lesson is due to be on 15th April 2027.
