Important Note on Overflow Classrooms & Payments

This PX Classroom has been created as the first one has now sold out (PX-Chem-CM-013.1). It is identical in substance but at a different time. It may be possible to swap places with a student in the original class if mutually agreed. Please note that this overflow Classroom will only take place if a sufficient number of extra students reserve a place.

To reserve a place, submit your order for this course as if you were going to buy it, but select ‘Direct Bank Transfer’ (not card payment) and only transfer the money much later once the Teacher has confirmed to you that the overflow classroom will indeed take place. Do not create a new order in order to pay as that will purchase a second place on the course! If the course does not run, there will be nothing to pay and your order will simply be cancelled.

Course Overview

This course covers content for both Edexcel and CAIE (Cambridge) IGCSE specifications. It is a two-year course and does not require any prior knowledge. However, if KS3 Chemistry has not been covered, it can be challenging, especially in the first term.

Course Method

Class notes (covering both Edexcel and CAIE) are distributed in advance and are filled in during the class.

Homework is set from the current Edexcel IGCSE student book which must be purchased in advance (ISBN 9780435185169). Homework is self-marked and any arising problems can be discussed in the lesson. Homework also includes optional practical assignments. Tests compiled from past exam papers are set on completion of each topic and are marked by the teacher.

Lessons are friendly, interactive, and focus on thinking skills. Videos of relevant practical experiments are watched and discussed during the class. A video recording is made of each lesson (with only the teacher visible) and upon request it can be made temporarily available to a student who missed the lesson.

Course Details

Term 1 covers the foundational principles of Chemistry for Paper 1. It comprises 14 weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 1.5 hours with a short break.

This PX Classroom is held on Wednesdays at 10.30am (London time zone), starting from Wednesday, 2nd September 2026. There will be no lesson on 16th September, nor on 28th October due to the half-term break. The last lesson is due to be on 16th December 2026.
