French AS-Level (2027 exam) & A-Level (2028 exam) – Term 1 (Sept. 2026)

Important Note on Payments

This PX Classroom will only take place if a sufficient number of students reserve a place. To reserve a place, submit your order for this course as if you were going to buy it, but select ‘Direct Bank Transfer’ (not card payment) and only transfer the money much later once the Teacher has confirmed to you that the course will indeed take place (Do not create a new order in order to pay as that will purchase a second place on the course!). If the course does not run, there will be nothing to pay and your order will simply be cancelled.

Course Overview

This course covers content for the AQA specification for French. It is a two-year course and assumes GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent level knowledge.

Course Method

Lessons are interactive in order to develop the four core skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Class notes are distributed in advance (when required) and are filled in during the class.

Lessons and homework follow the current AQA coursebook which must be acquired in advance:

AQA French A-Level Year 1 and AS Student Book (OUP; ISBN 9780198366881).

Homework consists of both self-marked and teacher-marked assignments. Students are expected to record and learn topic-based vocabulary each week. For a student of average ability, this course requires each week about six hours of self-study in the first year, and about eight hours in the second year, in addition to the two hours of lessons.

Course Details

Term 1 comprises 26 twice-weekly lessons. Each lesson lasts 60 minutes.

Term 1 covers Aspects of French-speaking society: current trends:

• Unit 1: La famille en voie de changement
• Unit 2: La “cyber-société”
• Unit 3: Le role du bénévolat

This PX Classroom is held on Tuesdays at 9am and Fridays at 10.30am (London time zone), starting from Tuesday, 8th September 2026. There will be no lessons on 20th , 23rd, 27th, or 30th October. The last lesson is due to be on Tuesday, 15th December 2026.
