Biology AS-Level (2027 exam) & A-Level (2028 exam) – Term 2 (Jan. 2027)

Course Overview

This course covers the content for the Edexcel International A-Level in Biology Specification. PX AS-Level Biology is a one-year course and assumes that GCSE-level Biology has already been achieved. It can be a stand-alone qualification or can be taken as the first of two years in the PX A-Level Biology Classroom.

The International A-Level offered by Edexcel has no practical assessment.

Course Method

The lessons are taught using PowerPoint presentations. Diagrams to fill in are distributed prior to lessons where appropriate. Students make their own notes using the class PowerPoints and the textbook and complete the practice questions from the textbook. The current Edexcel International AS/A Level Biology Student Book 1 (ISBN 9781292244846) must be acquired in advance. Homework is self-marked. Tests compiled from past-papers are set at the end of each topic and are marked by the Teacher.

For a student to attain the best possible outcome, they should factor in about six hours of study time per week over and above the PX lessons. This would include time spent answering textbook questions for the lesson completed; reading the next pages in preparation for the following lesson; and completing past-paper questions on the current topic.

Course Details

Term 2 covers Topic 3 (Cell Structure, Reproduction & Development) and Topic 4 (Plant Structure and Function, Biodiversity and Conservation).

Term 2 comprises 20 weekly lessons (two per week for 10 weeks). Each lesson comprises two 40-minute sessions with a short break in between.

This PX Classroom is held on Mondays at 11am and Wednesdays at 2pm (London time zone), starting from Monday, 11th January 2027. There will be no lessons in the week commencing 14th February due to the half-term break. The last lesson is due to be on 24th March 2027.
