Biology A-Level (2028 exam) – Term 3b (April 2027)

Important note

Do not purchase Term 3b if the student intends to study only for the AS-Level (purchase Term 3a instead)! Term 3b is for students taking the A-Level exam.

Course Overview

This course covers the content for the Edexcel International A-Level in Biology Specification. Terms 3b to 6 of this course cover the full content of the A2 component of this course (with the first three weeks of Term 3b still being in AS-Level territory). PX A2-Level Biology is therefore a one-and-a-third-year course.

The International A-Level offered by Edexcel has no practical assessment.

Course Method

The lessons are taught using PowerPoint presentations. Diagrams to fill in are distributed prior to lessons where appropriate. Students make their own notes using the class PowerPoints and the textbook and complete the practice questions from the textbook. The current Edexcel International AS/A Level Biology Student Book 2 (ISBN 9781292244709) must be acquired in advance. Homework is self-marked. Tests compiled from past-papers are set at the end of each topic and are marked by the Teacher.

For a student to attain the best possible outcome, they should factor in about six hours of study time per week over and above the PX lessons. This would include time spent answering textbook questions for the lesson completed; reading the next pages in preparation for the following lesson; and completing past-paper questions on the current topic.

Course Details

Term 3b starts the A2 Course with Topic 5 (Energy Flow, Ecosystems & Environment).

Term 3b comprises 20 weekly lessons (two per week for 10 weeks). Each lesson comprises two 40-minute sessions with a short break in between.

This PX Classroom is held on Mondays at 11am and Wednesdays at 2pm (London time zone), starting from Monday, 12th April 2027. There will be no lessons on 24th & 26th May due to the half-term break. The last lesson is due to be on 23rd June 2027.
