AS-Level Biology (2026 exam) – Term 3a (April 2026)

Important note

Do not purchase Term 3a if the student intends to study for the full A-Level (purchase Term 3b instead)! Term 3a is for students taking the AS-Level exam.

Course Overview

The first three terms of this course cover the full content of the AQA Specification in Biology. PX AS-Level Biology is a one-year course and assumes that GCSE-level Biology has already been achieved.

At AS-Level, the assessment of practical skills is by written exams only. At A2-Level, a separate practical endorsement can be taken. This is advisable if the student wishes to study Science at university.

The International A-Level offered by Edexcel has basically the same content but no practical assessment. The content of this Classroom also fits the Edexcel option.

Course Method

The lessons are taught using PowerPoint presentations. Notes and diagrams to fill in are distributed prior to lessons where appropriate. Students make their own notes using the Classroom PowerPoints and the textbook. Practice questions are set from the current AQA Biology AS-Level student book (ISBN 9780198351764) which must be acquired in advance. Homework is self-marked. Tests compiled from past-papers are set at the end of each topic and are marked by the Teacher.

Course Details

Term 3a focuses on consolidation and exam technique.

Term 3a comprises 8 weekly lessons (two per week for four weeks). Each lesson comprises two 40-minute sessions with a short break in between.

This PX Classroom is held on Tuesdays at 10am and Thursdays at 10.30am (London time zone), starting from Tuesday, 14th April 2026. The last lesson is due to be on 7th May 2026.
