A-Level Biology (2027 exam) – Term 3b (April 2026)

Course Overview

Terms 3b to 6 of this course cover the full content of the A2 component of the AQA Specification in Biology (with the first few weeks of Term 3b still being in AS-Level territory). PX A2-Level Biology is a one-and-a-third-year course and assumes that PX AS-Level Biology (Terms 1 & 2) has already been mastered.

At AS-Level, the assessment of practical skills is by written exams only. At A2-Level, a separate practical endorsement can be taken. This is advisable if the student wishes to study Science at university.

The International A-Level offered by Edexcel has basically the same content but no practical assessment. The content of this Classroom also fits the Edexcel option.

Course Method

The lessons are taught using PowerPoint presentations. Notes and diagrams to fill in are distributed prior to lessons where appropriate. Students make their own notes using the Classroom PowerPoints and the textbook. Practice questions are set from the current AQA Biology A-Level student book (ISBN 9780198357704) which must be acquired in advance. Homework is self-marked. Tests compiled from past-papers are set at the end of each topic and are marked by the Teacher.

Course Details

Term 3b starts the A2 Course with Unit 5 Energy Flow, Ecosystems & Environment.

Term 3b comprises 20 weekly lessons (two per week for 10 weeks). Each lesson comprises two 40-minute sessions with a short break in between.

This PX Classroom is held on Tuesdays at 10am and Thursdays at 10.30am (London time zone), starting from Tuesday, 14th April 2026. There will be no lessons on 26th & 28th May due to half term. The last lesson is due to be on Thursday, 25th June 2026.
